  • On Broadway, it is easy to tell when you are in the second act (or third or fourth): the curtain goes up and the action starts. In Real Life it is not so clear. It is more like a hockey game--players change roles while the action continues. A new beginning may be as simple as stopping one job and starting another. More likely, though, there is a transition period in which it is hard to come to clear decisions. Our generation is all in this together. Real Life 2 is a network of new beginnings. If you don't see what you need, ask a question. There is somebody out there who has already tried it!

    How To Exchange Ideas

SIGN UP. It is free. It allows you to access all of Real Life 2 and to post your own content, comment on posts which are already on the site, rank the posts, send emails, join a group, and a host of other great things. Even if you don’t register, however, you may still click on the Forums and read the information posted by other people.

Click on the FORUMS to see what Real Life 2 is all about. A Forum is a place for discussion. If you click on Forums, you will see a list of categories and topics. Pick something that interests you. If other people have posted information, you can read it and, as a Registered User, you may comment on it (click the Post Reply button); you may rate the post (click ________); or you may email the person who wrote the post (click on the letter icon). A flag will appear in the top right corner of the post if the person who wrote it is on line at the time.

Create a new TOPIC of your own and post your comments about that article. Click on the Forum (e.g., Start a Business), click on NewTopic, and away you go. Check the box at the bottom of your Post which says “Notify me when a reply is posted.” You will receive an email when someone responds to your post. Attach a longer document about your Topic if your ideas do not fit neatly into a smaller space Put pictures into your Post to illustrate your thoughts. Add a link from your Post to other materials which relate to your Topic. Add a link from our Post to your item(s) in the Marketplace (currently under construction). Add a poll to your Post which allows you to get immediate feedback from people who read your Post.

One thing to watch out for: If you begin your Topic discussion but do not finish it, save it as a draft rather than submitting it prematurely. Once submitted, you can edit (click on the Edit button), but after someone responds, (even if that someone is you) you may no longer delete it.

How to Set Up a Profile and Manage Your Posts

The USER CONTROL PANEL is located at the upper left corner of most pages when you are logged in as a Registered User. By clicking on that button, you can add a profile, change your profile, manage the Forums to which you are subscribed to get messages, work on the drafts of your Posts, manage attachments to your Posts, determine who are your Friends and who are your Foes, send private messages within Real Life 2 and even add icons or smilies to your messages.

Post an AVATAR or two on your Profile. An avatar is a picture of you or a picture or illustration of something that relates to you. Your avatar will show up on the right side of your Posts. Your avatar may be loaded from your desktop, from the pictures on your computer, from the internet, from any source from which you may otherwise load pictures.

    How to Join a Group

As a Registered User, you may join a Group. A Group is made up of Registered Users who want to communicate with each other about an area in which they have a special interest. To join a Group, go to your User Control Panel, click on the Usergroups tab, and join one or more of the Groups. To start a new Group, send an email message to the Administrator at Support@RealLife2.com which names the Group and gives a one sentence description of the interests you hope to talk about in the Group. As a member of a Group, you may receive information about the Group, send the members of the Group global messages, receive notices of new posts about the Topics which are of interest to your Group.

Select Friends (other Registered Users with whom you want to interact) and identify Foes (other Registered Users with whom you do not want to interact).
